Volunteers

  • Have you ever volunteered in a credit union?
  • Have you ever considered volunteering in a credit union?
  • Which area of credit union work interests you most?
  • How many hours per month would you be able to volunteer?

All credit unions are built upon the efforts of volunteers, who give freely of their time and skills to their credit unions in the spirit of cooperation. We have a team of volunteers in St. Canice’s Credit Union which enables us to function proactively and positively for the communities within our common bond. It is important that these skills are passed on to new volunteers so that the credit union can continue to develop.

Volunteering is mutually beneficial and very rewarding

Volunteering is mutually beneficial to both the volunteer and credit union. Volunteers assist with the running of many committees, adding their skills, knowledge and experience, contributing to better governance and decision making. In return, the credit union provides training and support to introduce and guide them in their new role.

The credit union committees offer an excellent starting point for new volunteers. Once a volunteer has worked with the credit union at committee level for a period of time, and training needs have been identified and addressed, there is the opportunity to move into a director or supervisor position.
