MacDonagh Junction Branch to Close
It is with regret that the St. Canice’s Credit Union Branch in MacDonagh Junction Shopping Centre will officially close for business on Saturday 18th April 2020 at 4pm.
Our branch in MacDonagh Junction Shopping Centre was opened in 2008 and since then member needs have changed along with how they interact with us as a credit union. We have introduced an Online and Phone Loan application service, Online Accounts, Direct Debits, Laser Payments and a fully functioning Current Account and Debit Card. We have also extended our main branch on High Street in Kilkenny to provide a more private loan application and collection service for members. Our Member Service Centre has been a tremendous success and its operating hours are being extended, on a trial basis, on Mondays and Tuesdays until 8pm from Monday 30th March 2020.
As the lease in MacDonagh Junction is due for renewal later this year a detailed review of the services offered to our members in Kilkenny was carried out with the aim of balancing operational efficiencies with member service.
These recently introduced services combined with ever rising costs and lower investment income, means it is now no longer sustainable to operate two branches in the city. Therefore, in order to manage these costs and secure the future of the credit union, the Board of St. Canice’s Credit Union has made the necessary but difficult decision to close the branch at MacDonagh.
We sincerely apologise to you and to all our members who are inconvenienced by this change and we can assure you that your credit union business will continue to be served through the remaining branch network, by phone and online. Our High Street branch and Member Service Centre will continue to operate 6 days a week and our Online and fully functioning new Debit Card services are available 24/7.
We thank you, our members, for your continued support and loyalty.
