Job Opportunity: Head of IT

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of IT role to join a large progressive Credit Union in the heart of Kilkenny. This is a full-time and permanent position, will report directly to the CEO and be a member of the Senior Leadership team.

The Head of IT will lead the team of two IT Officers and focus on current & strategic IT projects and technology roadmap, infrastructure management and all related IT aspects of the business, to the highest standard. The ideal candidate will be a strong relationship builder, managing IT operations throughout the Credit Union ensuring the highest standards are met, for both staff and members. They will possess extensive expertise and a proven track record in Strategic Planning & Leadership, technology infrastructure management and technology implementation, along with proficiency in developing I.T. roadmaps to support business delivery objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Steer, develop and execute the strategic technology roadmap aligned with the Credit Union’s goals.
  • Lead and manage the IT team, providing direction and support
  • Manage the IT team to ensure the delivery of all IT services, on a timely basis to all staff, local and remote.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and adaptability
  • Manage and oversight the overall technical support and IT training of staff.
  • Technology Infrastructure management – ensure the consistent availability, reliability and performance of IT systems
  • Manage vendors in the procurement and maintenance of IT products and services.
  • Monitor performance of systems, ensuring issues are appropriately escalated and resolved.
  • Cybersecurity and Compliance – ensure robust security measures are in place to protect members financial data and ensure compliance with the relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and eliminate weaknesses, analyse and improve efficiency, increase transparency and knowledge in relation to operational and technological business decisions.
  • Prepare and maintain appropriate IT procedures and policies.
  • Perform regular IT supplier reviews to ensure service is being delivered against contracted SLA’s.
  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of IT Projects, from initial Business Case through to Handover.
  • Regularly meet with Credit Union senior management team and IT Committee to report on quality of service, operational issues, governance compliance and IT related projects.
  • Coordinate and manage the change and release management processes with suppliers.
  • Generate business case documentation for IT Projects.
  • Maintain and test the organisation’s Disaster recovery and Business Continuity plans.
  • Manage the IT Budget, balancing technological and capacity resources to company and members’ needs.
  • Explore the viability of emerging technologies and manage projects to implementation stage with relevant documentation.
  • Ensure all technology practices adhere to regulatory and security standards.

Requirements

  • The candidate must have an IT qualification, preferably to degree level in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or a related field.
  • At least 5-7 years’ relevant senior leadership experience within the information technology field or an industry with reliance on technical expertise.
  • Technically skilled in assessing & managing strategic IT infrastructure.
  • Significant experience in leveraging data analysis tools & platforms to make data-driven decisions and optimise business processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with English as a primary language
  • Strong business acumen to cultivate internal and external business connections and effectively lead change management processes related to technology.
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders including senior management to drive alignment
  • Strong Leadership & People Management abilities
  • Proven IT project delivery capabilities.
  • Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems set up
  • Ability to work in complex environments and knowledge to support a team to help design solutions.
  • Detailed and organised, with a track record for understanding urgency and delivering quality results.
  • Able to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities simultaneously
