We want this process to be as seamless as possible so before you begin completing your online membership application, please review the following information to ensure you are ready to begin.
Online Membership Application Process
Before you Start
Please ensure you:
- Are within our Common Bond
- Are aged 16 years or over
- Have your Photo ID ready (Passport or Driving Licence)
- Have Proof of Address dated within the last 6 months
- Have Proof of PPSN available
- Complete all sections of the application to avoid delays
Step 1: Begin the application
Click ‘join Online’ below and complete all required sections of the membership application
Please note: Please note you can save your application and complete it any time within 14 days. Please ensure you take note of the reference number (e.g. Screenshot), as this will be required to add additional information and complete the application.
Step 2: Verify your identity
Upload a headshot photo of yourself facing the camera. Please name the file “Snapshot” before uploading. Upload your ID document e.g. valid Passport or Driving Licence. Please ensure that your signature is visible on the image uploaded.
Please note: Valid means document must be current and in date. Please name the file “Photo ID” before uploading.
Step 3: Proof of address
Upload your proof of address document e.g. recent utility bill, bank statement or government issued document. Please note the document must be addressed to you and be clearly dated within the last 6 months. Please name the file “Proof of Address” before uploading.
Please Note: we only require the top of the document where it shows the issuing body, your name and address and the date. Please remove or cover over any other information on the document before uploading.
Step 4: Proof of PPSN
Upload your proof of PPSN. Examples of documents accepted: P60, Payslip, Medical Card, Drug Payment Scheme Card, Letter from a government department.
Please Note: we only require the top of the document where it shows the issuing body, your name and address and your PPSN. Please remove or cover over any other information on the document before uploading.
Step 5: Application Approval
Our Membership Team will review your application and supporting documents. Once approved, we will contact you by phone to process your €5 membership payment.
Following payment, you will receive an email containing your Member Number, IBAN and BIC. If you opted in for Online Banking during your application, you will also receive your username and step-by-step instructions to help you log in and get started.

Online Banking
CU Online+ is a free and easy way to access your accounts when you are on the go, or from the comfort of your own home.
During your online membership application process, you will be asked to tick a box for Digital Services and prompted to create a password.
Then you can check your latest transactions and balances, view or print a statement, pay a bill online, transfer money between St. Canice’s Credit Union accounts, into your bank account or into the bank account of another.
- Make sure you are within our common bond. Check St. Canice's Credit Unions' Common Bond
- Online applications are for individual applicants aged 16 years and over.
- If you are under 16 or wish to open a joint account you can do so in branch.
- Ensure you complete all sections of the application, as incomplete fields will delay in processing your application.
- Please note you can save your application and complete it any time within 14 days. Please ensure you take note of the reference number (e.g. Screenshot), as this will be required to add additional information and complete the application.
- Upload Documents: Missing documents will delay the processing of your application, please note the following steps to upload documents.
- New members can save up to a maximum of €100,000 in their St. Canice’s Credit Union Account.
