Kilkenny Special Olympics Club
Kilkenny Special Olympics Club is a volunteer-run organisation that provides training in swimming, bocce, and athletics for children and adults. It is a sports organisation for people with an intellectual disability. Through sports, athletes develop both physically and emotionally, they make new friends and develop their talent. Kilkenny Special Olympics Club enables their athletes to achieve and win not only in sport but in life too.
We were delighted to be able to award Kilkenny Special Olympics Club €10,000 to fund this project. Kilkenny Special Olympics Club runs various activities for athletes with learning disabilities. The club will be looking to buy new canoes for its new and existing members which is very exciting as Kilkenny boasts a huge tradition in canoeing with its location on the banks of the River Nore. They also hope to offer a new sport that will focus on equestrian training to their members.
