SEPA (Single European Payments Account)
You can make payments to accounts with IBAN & BIC numbers in any of the 32 SEPA participating countries – the 27 EU member states, together with Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and Monaco.
Electronic Payments to your CU current account
Every member can have a current account with their own unique BIC & IBAN number. You can then set up payment into your current account, most popular types of payments are wages & salaries, pension payments, social welfare payments especially children’s allowance, once off payments from friends and family such as birthday or wedding gifts.
It is advisable not to let balances build up too high on your current account, as you will not earn dividend on balances, if a dividend was to be paid at the end of the year. You can move your current account money yourself on your on-line CU account or come in and we will do it with you at the counter. Just let us know where you want the funds to go from your current account: perhaps to a loan for repayment or into your savings.
You can also use your ATM card to withdraw money from your current account. If you don’t have an ATM card yet, simply drop into one of our branches to complete an application form. We need your signature as part of the application and then your PIN will be sent by post and you can collect he card at a branch.
Electronic Payments from your CU account
You can make external payments from any account once the payment is not from an account with pledged shares against a loan you may have. You can set this up on-line yourself from your CU on-line account or come in and we can process these at the counter for you. Most popular outgoing payments are to pay utility bills, credit cards, store cards, for gifts or holiday payments. You can set up a one off or a more regular payment for the same amount for each repayment, all you need is the destination BIC & the IBAN number of the receiving account.
St. Canice’s Kilkenny Credit Union Ltd. is registered for SEPA payments only.
If as a member you wish to transfer funds into your account, then the payment should be made as a SEPA payment only. If you are aware that a third party is making a payment into your account, it is advisable that they tell their financial institution that the payment should be made via SEPA. If a payment is sent in any other way, for example by SWIFT, the payment will be rejected by our processing Bank and the Payer may incur a rejection charge that he/she may be liable for.
