We are the largest community based credit union in Ireland, serving the needs of more than 57,000 member-owners and their communities within the common bond areas of Kilkenny city, Ballyragget, Callan, Dunnamaggin and Graignamanagh in County Kilkenny along with Ballingarry in Tipperary, Bagenalstown in Co. Carlow and Durrow, Mountrath and Rathdowney in County Laois.

St. Canice’s Credit Union uses its €421 million in assets to help improve the financial wellbeing of its members while at the same time helping to develop healthy communities that are socially, economically and environmentally sustainable.
We support local initiatives.
We provide members with a range of financial products and services to help them meet their financial goals and build their personal wealth. We also strengthen our community by turning our members’ deposits into millions of euros of credit, shared profits and community investments to support local economic, social and environmental initiatives.

As a cooperative, we are owned by our members and democratically controlled on the basis of one member, one vote. St. Canice’s Credit Union is run by a voluntary Board of Directors, which is subject to legislation by the Central Bank of Ireland and elected by the members at its AGM each year.

We are local, loyal and lending!
Our primary purpose is to promote thrift amongst our members and by the accumulation of savings we create a source of credit at fair and reasonable rates of interest for our members. Income charged on loans, investment income and other investment income provide for the day to day expenses and necessary reserves.
